The January transfer window proved to be a decent one for the Eagles as they bolstered their attacking department with a free transfer for Bakary Sako and the loan signing of Michy Batshuayi.

In terms of the latter, he's now one of four strikers the Palace boss can choose from between now and the end of May as he looks to steer the club to Premier League safety as well as a lengthy FA Cup run.Batshuayi made his debut as a substitute in the 2-0 win over Fulham last weekend, impressing in a 10-minute cameo role as it was his effort which was parried by Sergio Rico and into the path of Jeffrey Schlupp to wrap up the points.

His Belgium international teammate Christian Benteke made his first start since September and had a positive impact on proceedings as he was involved in the awarding of the penalty and also smashed the crossbar with a wonderful acrobatic effort in the first-half.

Speaking about the two strikers in particular, Hodgson has admitted that he's happy to be spoilt for choice in attack.
"He’s very anxious to do well there’s no question of that," Hodgson said of Benteke. "He’s had to work hard to get to where he is today so there’s no one doubting his motivation and his desire.

"Michy luckily knows other players at the club so he’s by no means dependant on Christian for a friend at the club.
"He’s been very warmly embraced and very quickly found his feet here. Of course he’s lived in London before being a Chelsea player and it’s been a fairly easy move and transition for him to come back here.

"But we are hoping that he will do well, he certainly had a good start. When you come as a forward to a new club, if you can start by either scoring a goal or providing a good assist it’s the best possible start you can have.

"But there’s a long way to go. A lot of games to be played and it’s going to be many twists and turns between now and May.

"I’m just glad we have got the number of players now and the competition for places which I think will serve is in good stead in terms of our goalscoring going forward."
